K-6 Programs
At our school, we use several fantastic programs to support all children to thrive in their learning. For literacy, we implement MultiLit, which provides targeted support to improve reading skills and boost confidence. For writing, the Syntax project guides students in understanding sentence structure and enhances their ability to express their ideas clearly. In mathematics, we embrace Learning Through Doing, allowing children to explore concepts through hands-on activities and real-life problem-solving. Additionally, we focus on emotional literacy with The Resilience Project, which teaches students valuable skills to manage their emotions and build resilience for life’s challenges.
English
English is taught through engaging and interactive lessons that focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students participate in a variety of activities, such as storytelling, group discussions, and creative writing, to help them express their ideas and understand different texts. Teachers also encourage a love for reading by introducing students to a wide range of books and stories suitable for their age.
Mathematics
Mathematics is taught through hands-on activities and real-life problem-solving to make learning enjoyable and relevant. Students explore numbers, shapes, and patterns while developing their skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division through games and group work. Teachers also use visual aids and resources to help children understand concepts and build their confidence in using maths in everyday situations.
Science and Technology
Science and technology are taught through exciting hands-on experiments and projects that spark curiosity, connect with culture and encourage exploration. Students learn about the world around them by investigating plants, animals, and the environment, as well as using technology to create and solve problems. Teachers support students in asking questions and finding answers, helping them develop critical thinking skills and a love for discovery
Creative Arts
Music, dance, drama, and art are taught in a fun and creative way that allows students to express themselves. Children participate in activities such as singing, playing instruments, dancing, and acting, which helps them build confidence and teamwork skills. Art lessons encourage students to explore different materials and techniques, allowing them to create their own unique masterpieces. Teachers foster a love for the performing and visual arts, helping students appreciate the beauty of creativity in everyday life.
Human Society and its Environment
HSIE is taught through engaging lessons that help students understand the world around them, including history, geography, and social studies. Students explore important topics like communities, cultures, and significant events through activities such as group projects, discussions, and excursions. They authentically connect with Country, Language and culture through learning experiences with First Nations Elders and community. Teachers encourage critical thinking and curiosity, helping children connect their learning to real-life experiences and develop an appreciation for diverse perspectives
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
PDHPE is taught to help students develop healthy habits and important life skills. Through fun activities like sports, games, and discussions, children learn about physical fitness, nutrition, and emotional well-being. Teachers also focus on building teamwork and social skills, encouraging students to make positive choices and develop a strong sense of self.
