Our public preschool is a fee-free preschool at Wilcannia Central School. It’s an easy choice for local families with young children.

We believe every child deserves a strong and inspiring start to their early childhood education. At our preschool, children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and grow in a safe, nurturing environment. Our warm and dedicated team supports each child’s development through engaging, hands-on play, helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning.

Preschool days and hours

Our preschool is open for 6 hours a day, on the same days as all NSW public schools. To learn about our preschool hours, please contact us.

Fees

We do not charge fees to attend our preschool. NSW public preschools are funded by the NSW government.

Attendance

At our preschool, we accept enrolments at the start of every term. Children are eligible to enrol from the start of the term after they turn 3 and remain enrolled until they begin kindergarten.

Meals

All meals are provided daily at our preschool to support children’s health and wellbeing. A varied weekly lunch menu is shared with families and includes a range of familiar, nutritious options such as spaghetti bolognese, sandwiches, and mild curries.

Children are also offered a selection of breakfast items each morning, including cereal, yoghurt, toast, pancakes, and fresh fruit. Afternoon tea is provided and typically includes light options such as fruit and toast.
